The CGFNS exam, or Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools, is a standardized test that assesses the knowledge and skills of internationally-educated nurses seeking to practice in the United States. The exam consists of four parts: a qualifying exam, a credentials review, an English language proficiency exam, and a nursing knowledge exam. Passing the CGFNS exam is an important step for foreign nurses to obtain licensure and practice nursing in the US.
